Leaving a high-paying job isn't easy, especially when it comes with an annual package of nearly ₹9.32 crore. Yet, one former Google employee chose to do exactly that to pursue his dream of building an AI startup.

From Google Executive to AI Entrepreneur

Yusuf Imran, a 41-year-old tech professional, resigned from his role as an account executive at Google's Silicon Valley office to launch his own artificial intelligence venture.

Originally from Bangladesh, Imran moved to New York as a child and spent nearly two decades working in sales before joining Google in 2020.

A Salary That Turned Heads

At Google, Imran earned a base salary of around $170,000. However, thanks to strong sales performance and substantial commissions, his total annual compensation reached nearly $986,000—roughly ₹9.32 crore.

Despite the impressive paycheck, he decided to leave in pursuit of a different opportunity.

Why He Chose to Leave

According to reports, Imran saw the rapid rise of AI startups and believed the timing was right to build something of his own. He also observed that companies focused on artificial intelligence were offering attractive long-term growth opportunities, including valuable stock options.

At the same time, repeated rounds of layoffs in the tech industry made him rethink the idea of job security. Seeing experienced colleagues lose their positions reinforced his belief that even top corporate jobs don't guarantee long-term stability.

Building an AI Business

While still working at Google, Imran spent evenings and weekends experimenting with AI models and developing software products.

He has now launched Mangosteen Studio, a solo venture focused on creating specialized AI tools designed to help sales teams work more efficiently and close deals faster.

Experience Over Degrees

Imran believes that his years of experience in sales have been just as valuable as technical expertise. He says today's AI tools have lowered the barrier to entry, allowing professionals with industry knowledge and innovative ideas to build technology businesses—even without a traditional computer science background.

His journey reflects a growing trend of experienced professionals leaving established companies to explore opportunities in the rapidly evolving AI industry.
