Noida: The case surrounding the tragic death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Sector 150, Noida, has once again taken a serious turn. Fresh allegations made by the mother of the key eyewitness have raised troubling questions about the conduct of the police and the administration.
Sunita, the mother of eyewitness Munendra, has alleged that her family is being continuously intimidated and mentally harassed by the police to force her son to change his statement. According to her, Munendra was the first person to reach the spot on the night of the incident and made every possible effort to save Yuvraj.
She stated that Munendra heard Yuvraj screaming for help, repeatedly pleading, “Save me.” Without caring for his own safety, Munendra reportedly entered the cold, deep water in complete darkness and searched for Yuvraj for nearly 30 minutes. Sunita said her family is financially weak, but that did not stop her son from risking his life in an attempt to save another.
Sunita further alleged that the following day, police detained Munendra and questioned him for nearly five hours. After releasing him, they allegedly warned him not to disclose the details of the incident to anyone. Despite this, Munendra chose to speak to the media and narrated exactly what he witnessed that night. According to Sunita, after these statements came out, police officials began pressuring him to alter his version of events, a demand he refused.
Expressing fear after the arrest of the builder in the case, Sunita said her son now feels unsafe and apprehensive about possible retaliation. “People who are already reckless can go to any extent to save themselves,” she said, voicing concern for her son’s safety.
While the death of Yuvraj Mehta has shattered one family, the only eyewitness claims to be living under constant fear and pressure. The case has now become a test of the system itself, raising a crucial question: will the investigating agencies ensure that the truth comes out, or will these serious allegations be quietly buried?
