How to check the expiry date of the cylinder?

The expiry date of an LPG cylinder is written on the metal strip at the top. You may have often seen markings like A-28, B-29, C-26, or D-27. This is the actual identification of the cylinder's validity. The alphabet indicates the month, and the number next to it indicates the year.

A stands for January to March, B for April to June, C for July to September, and D for October to December. If a cylinder is marked D-27, it means it will expire between October and December 2027. Similarly, if it's marked B-29, it will be valid between April and June 2029. By understanding this code, you can check your cylinder's expiration date yourself.

Why is expired cylinder dangerous?

An expired gas cylinder isn't just old on paper. It can also be a safety hazard. Over time, the cylinder's metal weakens, valves can become damaged, and its ability to hold pressure inside can decrease. Such cylinders increase the risk of gas leakage, fire, or explosion.
