Low-budget Bollywood film Hanuman Ansh has pulled off an unexpected turnaround at the box office. After struggling to attract audiences during its initial run, the film has suddenly picked up momentum and is now delivering surprisingly strong numbers.
What makes the turnaround even more interesting is that the film's performance improved after the release of Yash's big-budget movie Toxic. Normally, the arrival of a major release puts pressure on smaller films, but Hanuman Ansh appears to have gone in the opposite direction.
The film's 22nd day proved to be extraordinary, with its daily collection jumping dramatically.
The Film Struggled for More Than Two Weeks
Hanuman Ansh had a slow beginning at the box office.
During its first 16 days, the film managed to collect only around ₹1.40 crore. There was little indication that it would eventually become a major success.
The situation changed on the third Sunday of its theatrical run.
On Day 17, the film collected ₹2.20 crore, giving it a much-needed boost. After that, Hanuman Ansh maintained a surprisingly steady run, generally earning between ₹1 crore and ₹2 crore per day.
But the fourth Saturday brought a completely different result.
Day 22 Collection Shocked Everyone
The film earned approximately ₹6.50 crore on its 22nd day, according to reported figures.
That means Hanuman Ansh earned more in a single day than it had managed to collect during its entire first 16 days.
Its reported day-wise collections from Day 17 onward are:
-
Day 17: ₹2.20 crore
-
Day 18: ₹1.25 crore
-
Day 19: ₹2.35 crore
-
Day 20: ₹1.50 crore
-
Day 21: ₹2.10 crore
-
Day 22: ₹6.50 crore
Following this surge, the film's 22-day net collection has reached ₹18.38 crore, while its reported gross collection stands at approximately ₹21.65 crore.
Made for Just ₹2 Crore, Film Turns Into a Blockbuster
The biggest reason these numbers are attracting attention is the film's modest budget.
Hanuman Ansh was reportedly made for only around ₹2 crore. With its net collection already crossing ₹18 crore, the movie has earned more than nine times its reported production budget in net theatrical revenue.
This makes its box office journey particularly impressive.
The film's recent growth also shows that smaller movies can sometimes find an audience well after their release if positive word of mouth begins to spread.
Why Did Hanuman Ansh Suddenly Pick Up?
One interesting aspect of Hanuman Ansh's journey is its performance alongside major releases.
Instead of losing audiences after the arrival of a big-budget film like Toxic, the movie has continued to attract viewers and has actually recorded a significant rise in collections.
A similar trend has recently been seen with other films that connect with audiences through Indian culture, mythology and devotional themes.
Animated film Mahavatar Narasimha and Gujarati film Lalo Krishna Sada Sahayate have also demonstrated that culturally rooted stories can find strong audience support.
Hanuman Ansh now appears to be benefiting from the same trend.
The Real Test Is Still Ahead
Although the film has already delivered an impressive turnaround, its journey may not be over.
The last few days have shown a major improvement in audience interest, but it remains to be seen whether the film can maintain these numbers in the coming days.
With a reported budget of just ₹2 crore and a net collection of ₹18.38 crore in 22 days, Hanuman Ansh has already achieved what many low-budget films can only dream of.
From Struggling Film to Surprise Hit
Hanuman Ansh's box office journey has been anything but ordinary. After spending more than two weeks with disappointing collections, the film gradually found an audience and has now turned into a major success.
Its ₹6.50 crore collection on Day 22 is the clearest indication of the turnaround—and if this momentum continues, the film could add several more crores to its already impressive total.
