A government primary school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district has been suspended after an official inquiry reportedly found evidence supporting serious allegations, including forcing students to perform personal work and committing financial irregularities. The action was taken by the District Basic Education Officer (BSA), triggering widespread discussion within the education department.

The case relates to a primary school in the Alhaipur development block, where the teacher was posted.

Allegations of Making Students Care for a Goat

According to the inquiry, the teacher allegedly brought a goat to the school premises for several weeks before Eid al-Adha and kept it tied inside the campus.

Parents alleged that instead of focusing on classroom teaching, the teacher instructed students to collect leaves and fodder from nearby areas to feed the goat. The matter came to light after children reportedly informed their families, prompting parents to file a formal complaint with district authorities.

Inquiry Report Supports the Complaints

Following the complaint, an inquiry committee was constituted on the directions of senior district officials. According to the investigation report, the allegations regarding the goat being kept on school premises and students being asked to collect fodder were found to be substantiated.

Financial Irregularities Also Under Investigation

Apart from the allegations involving students, the teacher was also accused of financial misconduct related to funds sanctioned for the construction of the school's boundary wall.

According to the complaint, ₹4.40 lakh had been approved for the project, and the inquiry reportedly found irregularities in the utilisation of those funds. The matter may be subject to further departmental or legal proceedings as required.

Suspension Order Issued

Based on the findings of the inquiry, the District Basic Education Officer ordered the immediate suspension of the teacher.

The suspension order reportedly states that the alleged conduct amounted to serious indiscipline, failure to perform official duties, and a violation of government employee conduct rules. During the suspension period, the teacher has been attached to the Block Resource Centre (BRC) in Puraini while departmental proceedings continue.

As per government rules, a suspended employee is generally entitled to a subsistence allowance, subject to the applicable service conditions and required declarations.

Investigation Continues

The suspension is an administrative action pending further proceedings and does not by itself determine final guilt. Any additional disciplinary or legal action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing departmental process and any further investigation by the authorities.
