Government Deposits Up to ₹8,000 in Accounts of 40 Lakh People: Check If You Are Eligible

The government of Tamil Nadu has announced a major financial assistance package aimed at supporting vulnerable sections of society. The initiative, launched by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, has already transferred funds directly into the bank accounts of nearly 40 lakh beneficiaries across the state.

The move is being seen as a significant welfare step ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections and is expected to provide immediate relief to several low-income households.

₹2,000 Special Assistance Credited

According to official data released by the government, a special assistance of ₹2,000 has been credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries along with their regular pensions for the month of March.

In total, around 37.79 lakh people have received financial support through the scheme.

Senior Citizens and Widows Receive ₹3,200

Nearly 29.29 lakh senior citizens and widows who receive pensions under social security schemes have benefited from the initiative.

  • Regular monthly pension: ₹1,200

  • Special assistance: ₹2,000

  • Total amount credited: ₹3,200

The assistance aims to help elderly citizens manage rising living costs and basic household expenses.

Support for Persons With Disabilities

The scheme also provides financial support to persons with disabilities.

  • 5.92 lakh beneficiaries received ₹3,500 in total

    • ₹1,500 pension + ₹2,000 assistance

  • 2.58 lakh persons with severe disabilities requiring special care received ₹4,000.

₹8,000 Aid for Fishing Families

Apart from pension beneficiaries, the government has also announced financial relief for fishing communities.

Around 1,62,900 fishing families will receive ₹8,000 per family as support during the annual fishing ban period from April to June, when fishing activities remain suspended.

Financial Support for Tea Farmers

The state has also allocated ₹8.53 crore in assistance to 14,870 small tea farmers in the Nilgiris district. This support aims to stabilise the income of small growers and help them cope with market fluctuations.

Earlier Assistance for Women Beneficiaries

This financial support follows an earlier welfare initiative under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, which provides financial support to eligible women beneficiaries.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Stalin stated that the government released the funds in response to requests from marginalized communities and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to inclusive development in Tamil Nadu.
