A shocking incident has surfaced in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a young man, Abhishek Sharma (27), ended his life after allegedly being humiliated and physically assaulted by his wife and her family.

According to reports, Abhishek had gone to his in-laws’ house in Nagwa village (Gida police station area) to bring his wife Khushi Sharma home. However, instead of reconciliation, he faced severe insult and was reportedly beaten by his wife, her father, and her elder sister. Abhishek, who had been working in Hyderabad as a paint polisher, had already been struggling with alleged ongoing mental harassment from his wife since their marriage in February.

After the incident at his in-laws’ home, Abhishek returned to his own house deeply distraught. Consumed by humiliation and sadness, he locked himself in his room and died by suicide.

His mother has since lodged a police complaint, detailing not only the events at the in-laws’ home but also the alleged harassment her son faced in the marriage. Police have begun investigating the matter based on her statement. The case has highlighted the devastating consequences of emotional and physical abuse within families.
