A disturbing case has surfaced from Gorakhpur, where a woman has approached the court after discovering that her husband—father of their two children—had secretly undergone a gender transition without informing her or the family.

The case pertains to the Bansgaon area. According to the woman’s statement, she has been married for seven years and has two daughters. She alleges that her husband, who holds a senior position in a private company in Delhi, travelled there around two years ago and underwent a sex change procedure, keeping the decision completely hidden from her.

The wife claims she remained unaware of this major change for nearly two years. The truth, she says, came to light only recently after she obtained medical documents and was alerted by her friends. She describes the revelation as a deep betrayal and says it left her emotionally shattered.

Serious allegations made in court

In her petition, the woman has accused her husband of physical and mental cruelty throughout their marriage. She alleges that his behaviour was abnormal from the beginning, that he assaulted and mentally harassed her, and even forced her into situations against her will. She further claims that last year, he allegedly beat her severely and threw her out of the house, leaving her uncertain about the future of their two daughters.

Demand for maintenance and compensation

Following the disclosure, the woman has filed a case seeking maintenance, compensation, and justice for herself and her children. She has termed her husband’s actions a violation of trust and marital responsibility.

The husband has denied all allegations, calling them false and baseless. A counter-petition has also been filed from his side. The court is currently hearing arguments from both parties and examining the evidence presented.

Concern for children’s future

The woman says that beyond the breakdown of her marriage, her biggest concern is the future of her two young daughters. She has stated that she is determined to pursue the legal battle to ensure financial security and justice for her children.
