The AI race is heating up, and every major tech company is working to make its assistant more intelligent and useful. Now, Google has taken a big step forward by introducing a new Personal Intelligence feature in the Gemini app. This update is designed to deliver a more personalized experience and significantly more accurate responses for users.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the feature on microblogging platform X, calling it one of the most requested upgrades from Gemini users. According to Pichai, Personal Intelligence will allow Gemini to understand users better and respond with greater context and relevance.
He wrote:
“Fulfilling one of our users’ biggest requests, we’re adding Personal Intelligence to the @GeminiApp. Now you can securely connect to Google apps for an even better experience.”
What is Personal Intelligence in Gemini?
With this new feature, users can securely connect Gemini to select Google apps. Once connected, Gemini can combine advanced reasoning with information from these sources to give smarter, context-aware answers.
For example, Gemini may be able to:
-
Use details from your emails or photos to understand context
-
Provide more relevant suggestions and responses
-
Better adapt answers based on your personal usage and needs
According to Google, the goal is to help Gemini respond not just accurately, but intelligently, by understanding what matters most to each user.
Privacy and user control
Google has emphasized that privacy is a top priority with Personal Intelligence. Users have complete control over their data:
-
No apps are connected by default
-
Users must manually choose which Google apps they want to link
-
Connections can be managed or removed at any time
This ensures that personal information remains under the user’s control at all times.
Availability and rollout
The Personal Intelligence feature is currently rolling out as a beta. Google has confirmed that:
-
The beta rollout has started for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers
-
It is currently available in the US
-
The feature works across web, Android, and iOS platforms
