Gold prices in India's retail market fell on Thursday, July 2, with 24-carat and 22-carat gold rates seeing a slight decline in major cities. Silver prices, on the other hand, rose in the domestic bullion market.

The gold rate for the August futures contract on MCX was trading 0.17% lower at ₹144,560 per 10 grams on July 2. Meanwhile, MCX silver futures were trading 0.71% higher at ₹231,850 per kg at around 9:13 am.

What is the price of gold in major cities of the country?

In the national capital, Delhi, 24-carat gold is selling for ₹140,920 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold is selling for ₹129,190. In the financial capitals, Mumbai and Kolkata, 22-carat gold is priced at ₹129,040 and 24-carat gold at ₹140,770 per 10 grams.

Chennai is seeing the highest gold prices nationwide, with 10 grams of 24-carat gold selling for ₹144,560 and 10 grams of 22-carat gold selling for ₹129,040.

On July 2, the domestic price of silver reached ₹241,000 per kilogram. In the international market, spot silver was trading at around $58 per ounce.
