A horrifying case of cruelty and exploitation has surfaced from Ghazipur district, where a woman has accused her husband of circulating her obscene photos and videos, physically assaulting her, and threatening to sell her. The matter came to light in the Karimuddinpur police station area, after the victim approached senior police officials seeking justice.

According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of a village under Karimuddinpur police station, was married three years ago. She told police that her married life remained peaceful for nearly two and a half years. However, about a month ago, her husband allegedly committed acts that shattered her trust and sense of safety.

The victim alleged that her husband secretly took objectionable photographs and videos of her and later shared them with his friends. She also claimed that one such video was circulated further. When she somehow came to know about this and confronted him, the situation turned violent.

The woman told police that her husband brutally beat her and then forced her to consume alcohol. In an intoxicated state, she allegedly heard him say that he would sell her and that this was the reason he had made and shared the obscene video.

What makes the case even more disturbing is the fact that the woman is currently five months pregnant. Despite her condition, she alleged that her husband continued to assault her regularly. Unable to endure the violence any longer, she left her matrimonial home and took shelter at her sister’s house.

The victim further claimed that she initially approached the local police station to file a complaint, but no action was taken. Left with no option, she then met the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Ghazipur and submitted a written complaint. In her letter, she reportedly stated that if she did not receive justice, she would be forced to take her own life.

Taking the matter seriously, the Superintendent of Police heard the woman’s account and immediately instructed Karimuddinpur police to act. Following the SP’s directions, the police registered a case against the accused husband under Sections 85, 115(2), and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation is currently underway and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings. The case has once again highlighted the grave issue of domestic violence and digital exploitation, raising serious concerns about the safety and dignity of women within their own homes.
