From electricity and water to EMI, household bills can now be deposited directly through WhatsApp
Payment services for electricity, water, gas, FASTag, insurance, credit card, and loan EMIs will soon be available through WhatsApp. This service will be available through the Bharat Connect BBPS network.

This might be frustrating, but now this task is about to become easier with WhatsApp. WhatsApp is soon launching a bill payment service in India, allowing users to check and pay multiple important bills from a single app.
The company has stated that this service is being rolled out to users in India gradually. It will be made available on both Android and iOS platforms over the coming weeks. This means that not all users will receive the service at the same time, but rather, it will be rolled out gradually.
Thousands of billers will be available in 30 categories
This new WhatsApp feature is based on the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network. According to the company, it will allow users to access approximately 22,722 billers, which are spread across 30 different categories.
These include payments like household electricity, water, and gas bills, as well as FASTag recharges, insurance, credit card bills, and loan EMIs. This means you'll have a single place to make a variety of everyday payments.
Bills can be managed on WhatsApp only
The purpose of this service isn't just to provide payment options. Users will also be able to manage their important billers in one place. This could reduce the need to navigate to different platforms each time they need to pay their bills.
WhatsApp already offers payment services in India. Now, the company is expanding its financial services offerings by adding bill payments to its platform.
Android and iPhone users will get the feature
According to the company, the new bill payment feature will be available for both Android and iOS users. However, it may take a few weeks to reach everyone. Once the feature is available, users will be able to pay various types of bills through WhatsApp.
WhatsApp's move is being seen as an attempt to expand its financial services business in India. After messaging and payments, the company is now also adding everyday bills to its app.
