A serious case of death threats has come to light against former Chittorgarh Municipal Council Chairman Sandeep Sharma. The threat was made via a WhatsApp voice call from an unknown number on January 14th at 12:26 pm. The caller identified himself as "Harry Boxer" and claimed to be associated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Former Speaker receives death threat
During the call, the accused, citing potential earnings of crores, told Sandeep Sharma that he and his entire family had been tracked and tracked. He threatened to kill him if he did not contact him within 24 hours. A subsequent voice message was sent, reiterating his threat to harm him and his family.
Sandeep Sharma and his family were terrified by the threat. They immediately filed a complaint at the Sadar police station. Police have registered a case and have initiated a technical investigation into the number from which the call and voice message were sent. Efforts are being made to identify the accused based on call detail records (CDRs), location, and digital evidence.
WhatsApp voice calls and messages create panic
Police are also investigating whether the threat is actually linked to an organized criminal gang or is being made by a miscreant with the intention of intimidation and extortion. As a precaution, security has been increased and barricades have been erected outside Sandeep Sharma's residence and hotel.
Police started technical investigation
It is noteworthy that Kanhaiyalal Khatik and a contractor from Rawatbhata have previously received threats in the name of the Rohit Godara gang in the district, and cases have been registered in separate police stations. Such threats and extortion cases have increased across the state in recent times. Police have provided security to all those who received threats.
