The Padma Awards, one of India's highest civilian honors, were announced on the eve of Republic Day. These awards recognize individuals for distinguished and outstanding service in various fields. These honors are presented in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

These awards are given in various fields/activities, such as art, social service, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. The 'Padma Vibhushan' is given for exceptional and distinguished service; the 'Padma Bhushan' is given for distinguished service of a high order, and the 'Padma Shri' is given for distinguished service in any field. These awards are announced every year on Republic Day.
