Filmmaker Manish Gupta Accused of Attacking Driver with Knife; FIR Registered, Investigation Underway

Mumbai Police have registered a high-profile case against noted filmmaker Manish Gupta, known for directing films such as One Friday Night, Sarkar, Section 375, Rahasya, and 420 IPC. The FIR was lodged on June 6 following allegations that Gupta attacked his driver, Rajebul Lashkar, with a knife over a dispute regarding salary.

Rajebul Lashkar is currently receiving medical treatment. His lawyer, Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh, has demanded Manish Gupta’s immediate arrest, emphasizing that “no one should be above the law.”

Meanwhile, Manish Gupta’s legal team has refuted the allegations, calling them baseless and accusing the driver and his associates of attempting to extort money through false claims. According to the filmmaker’s lawyer, Rajebul has a prior criminal record, including bank fraud, and the filmmaker plans to pursue legal action for filing a fake FIR.

The case is registered at the Versova Police Station under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), with investigations ongoing. DCP Gedam Dixit confirmed the case registration but stated that no official statement has yet been issued by Manish Gupta.
