EPFO New Scheme: EPFO announces a major new scheme for 6 months only. Who will benefit?

Every employee contributes a portion of their salary to the PF account. This helps them during difficult times or after retirement. Now, some more changes have been made to the EPFO. The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has launched a six-month special amnesty scheme (EPFO Amnesty Scheme 2026) for eligible institutions.
This scheme will now provide a one-time opportunity for certain institutions and companies operating PF trusts to regularize their records. According to information provided by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, this scheme is for institutions whose PF trusts are recognized under the Income Tax Act but have not received the required formal exemption notification from the central or state government under Section 17 of the EPF Act.
Which institutions will benefit?
The special amnesty scheme applies to institutions that operate PF trusts recognized under the Income Tax Act, 1961, but do not have an official exemption notification. These institutions will now have the opportunity to regularize their status.
EPFO has divided
eligible entities into two groups. The first group includes entities that are already pursuing regularization and have begun complying with regulations. The second group includes entities that have been exempted under the Social Security Code 2020.
Major benefit of the scheme
This scheme of EPFO will regularise the exemption given for forming a trust for a fixed period. Also, some conditions will be relaxed.
