Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn has ruled the industry for more than three decades, delivering memorable performances across action, romance, drama, and comedy. While the actor has been part of several successful franchises, the Drishyam series holds a special place among audiences. With Drishyam 3 now officially in the pipeline, expectations are sky-high—raising the big question: can this film become the biggest box office success of Ajay Devgn’s career?
Ajay Devgn made his debut in 1991 with Phool Aur Kaante and has since appeared in nearly 130 films. His career-high worldwide collection came from Singham Again, which earned around ₹378 crore but was considered only an average performer due to its massive budget. His historical drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior emerged as a blockbuster with ₹362 crore worldwide.
Among his top-grossing films, Drishyam 2 stands strong, collecting approximately ₹343 crore globally and becoming one of the most successful thrillers in recent years. Close behind are Golmaal Again, which earned around ₹310 crore, and last year’s hit Raid 2, which reportedly grossed ₹235 crore worldwide.
Why Expectations Are Massive From Drishyam 3
The Drishyam franchise has a proven track record. The first film, released in 2015 on a budget of about ₹50 crore, surprised everyone by earning nearly ₹110 crore worldwide. Drishyam 2 took things to another level, reportedly grossing close to ₹350 crore on a similar budget, thanks to strong word-of-mouth and repeat audiences.
In today’s box office climate—where films with compelling stories often enjoy long theatrical runs—the makers of Drishyam 3 are optimistic. Audiences are increasingly rewarding content-driven cinema, and suspense thrillers with emotional depth continue to draw crowds. With mass appeal, franchise loyalty, and Ajay Devgn’s powerful screen presence, the third installment is being seen as a potential game-changer.
Can Drishyam 3 Cross ₹500 Crore?
So far, no Ajay Devgn film has crossed the ₹400 crore mark worldwide. However, trade experts believe Drishyam 3 has the potential to break that barrier. The goal, reportedly, is to push the film beyond ₹500 crore—a milestone that would make it the highest-grossing film of Ajay Devgn’s career.
With the original Malayalam version starring Mohanlal expected to release earlier in the year and the Hindi version slated for a later theatrical window, all eyes are now on how audiences respond to the final chapter of this gripping franchise.
