Do you have an account with SBI? Big news regarding reward points, understand what to do now

SBI Alert: These days, scammers are constantly inventing new ways to defraud. In this context, fraudulent activities in the name of SBI reward points are now coming to light. This is a complete conspiracy by cyber criminals

SBI Reward Points Scam: If you have an account with SBI (State Bank of India) or use an SBI credit or debit card, this news is for you because SBI customers are increasingly targeted by cybercriminals. In such a situation, even the slightest mistake or carelessness could prove costly. Cyber fraudsters are committing fraud by sending messages offering to redeem reward points.

What is the new trick of scammers?

Like many other banks, State Bank of India (SBI) offers its customers reward points for credit or debit card transactions. These points can be used for everything from mobile recharges to shopping. However, they expire if not used for two years. There's a growing craze for reward points among customers, and scammers are exploiting this to lure you into a trap and empty your bank account in no time.

What is the truth behind the viral claim?

The government's fact-checking agency, PIB Fact Check, has called such messages fake and advised against them. The fact check clearly states that SBI will never send its customers links or APK files via SMS or WhatsApp to download any APK file.

Scammers send such messages to gain access to your bank details. Downloading such files can install malware on your phone, which can easily steal your personal data, bank account details, and OTPs, and empty your bank account in minutes.
