Dhurandhar 2: Blockbuster Music Deal Sets New Record, T-Series Spends ₹27 Crore on Song Rights

The excitement around Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited sequel Dhurandhar 2 is steadily building as the film gears up for its theatrical release on March 19, 2026. While the teaser for the sequel, released on January 3, offered only brief glimpses, major changes behind the scenes have grabbed industry attention—especially a record-breaking music deal.

One of the biggest shifts from the first film is related to music rights. During the release of Dhurandhar (Part 1), the music rights were held by Saregama, where 11 songs from the film are currently available on YouTube. However, for Dhurandhar 2, T-Series has secured the complete music rights across all languages, marking a significant change in strategy.

₹27 crore deal for music rights

According to recent reports, T-Series has acquired the music rights of Dhurandhar 2 for a staggering ₹27 crore, making it one of the most expensive music deals in recent years. This valuation considers the entire lifecycle of the soundtrack, including theatrical promotions, post-release streaming, short-video platforms, reels, and long-term digital monetisation.

Since Dhurandhar 2 is being released as a pan-language film, the deal extends far beyond the Hindi market, increasing its commercial potential across regions.

Why the soundtrack matters

The original Dhurandhar was not just a box office success—it also became a musical phenomenon. The film featured over 11 songs, many of which gained massive traction online even before the movie’s release. The popularity of these tracks played a key role in shaping the sequel’s aggressive music strategy.

Industry insiders believe T-Series expects the sequel’s music to be a major promotional driver, with multiple songs likely to be released well ahead of the film to keep audience buzz alive.

Popular songs from Dhurandhar Part 1

Among the 11 released tracks from the first film, the dance number “Shararat” emerged as the most popular, clocking over 208 million views on YouTube. It was followed by “Gehrah Hua”, featuring Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, with 118 million views. Other well-received tracks included the title song Dhurandhar, Ishq Jalakar Caravan, Teri Ni Karaaran, Run Down the City (Monica), Ez-Ez, Lut Le Gaya, Move, Yeh Ishq Ishq, and Naal Nachna.

The soundtrack featured a diverse lineup of artists such as Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonu Nigam, Jasmine Sandlas, Hanumankind, Afsana Khan, and others, contributing to its wide appeal.

Strong pre-release momentum

T-Series’ massive investment signals growing confidence in the Dhurandhar franchise. Trade analysts say the high-value music deal has significantly boosted the film’s pre-release business profile, reinforcing its status as one of the most commercially promising releases of 2026.
