Now, the craze for Indian mangoes has crossed borders, gaining popularity in the United States as well. Recently, five popular Indian mango varieties have captured the attention of American consumers. Here’s a look at which mangoes are in demand in America and why.

Indian Mangoes Make a Splash in Seattle

A special event organized in Seattle by the Consulate General of India in collaboration with APEDA showcased five prized Indian mango varieties—Dussehri, Chaunsa, Langra, Mallika, and Totapuri—to American leaders and media. The aroma and taste of these mangoes instantly won over the guests, including prominent leaders from Washington State.

American Leaders Praise Indian Mangoes

Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown, State Senator Manka Dhingra, and Seattle Port Commissioner Sam Cho were among the dignitaries who tasted the mangoes. Each variety impressed them with its sweetness, aroma, and juicy softness, highlighting the premium quality of Indian mangoes.

Growing Demand and Export Growth

Experts at the event noted that Indian mango exports to the US rose by 19% in 2024, signaling the growing popularity of these fruits in the American market. Additionally, a mango tasting session at the Indian Food Festival and Mango Promotion event in Redmond on July 9 attracted Washington State representative Alex Ybarra. Discussions between Indian mango exporters and American retail companies were held to expand the reach of India’s premium mangoes in the US Pacific Northwest.
