Delhi High Court Takes Strong Action Over Misuse of Abhishek Sharma’s Identity Online

Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has received major relief from the Delhi High Court after raising concerns over the unauthorized use of his name, photographs, and identity on social media and online platforms.
The young Team India star had approached the court seeking protection of his personality rights, alleging that several individuals and platforms were using his image and identity for commercial purposes without his permission.
The Delhi High Court has now directed the removal of social media posts and online links that misuse Abhishek Sharma’s name, photo, or identity. The court has also stated that a formal order regarding the matter will be issued soon.
Abhishek Sharma sought protection of personality rights
Abhishek Sharma told the court that his identity was being exploited without consent. His name and photographs were allegedly being used in ways that could mislead fans and create a false association with products, services, or promotions.
The cricketer requested legal protection to prevent unauthorized use of his personal identity and image.
Court’s decision brings relief
Recognizing the importance of protecting a public figure’s identity, the Delhi High Court ordered action against the posts and links involved in the alleged misuse. The decision aims to stop unauthorized exploitation of Abhishek Sharma’s popularity and reputation.
Focus now shifts back to cricket
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma is currently representing India in the T20 series in England. The left-handed batter impressed fans with his performances in the opening matches, although he could not make a major impact in the third T20 match.
With India facing pressure in the series, Abhishek will be hoping to return to form in the upcoming match in Bristol and help the team stay alive in the contest.
