Delhi Crime: Aunt Arrested for Killing 2-Year-Old Child in Mukherjee Nagar, Motive Under Investigation

A horrifying incident has come to light from Mukherjee Nagar in Delhi, where a two-year-old child was allegedly strangled to death by his aunt. The accused woman was later found sitting in a nearby park with the child’s body in her lap, triggering panic among local residents.
What happened
According to Delhi Police, the police control room received a call around 1:30 pm on Friday, reporting that a woman had killed a small child in a park near SFS Flats in Mukherjee Nagar. The caller informed police that the woman was still holding the child and refusing to let go.
When locals noticed the woman sitting motionless with the child, they immediately alerted authorities. A passerby managed to take the child from her and rushed him to New Life Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Victim and accused identified
The deceased child, Hadi, was the son of Adil and a resident of Seelampur. He had come to Mukherjee Nagar with his mother Uzma to visit her relatives. The accused, Azra (30), is the child’s maternal aunt.
Police officials stated that Azra was taken into custody from the park. She allegedly resisted when officers tried to separate her from the child’s body.
Investigation underway
The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police are questioning the accused to determine the motive behind the crime. Initial indications suggest that a family-related dispute may be involved, but officials have said it is too early to draw conclusions.
Panic among residents
The incident has created fear and shock among residents of the SFS Flats area. A gardener working in the park reportedly witnessed the act and raised an alarm, after which people gathered at the spot. Local residents have demanded strict action, calling the crime brutal and deeply disturbing.
