A major security lapse came to light during the ongoing winter session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, after a man was detained for attempting to enter the Assembly complex without authorisation.

The incident occurred at the Assembly premises in Civil Lines, where the individual, identified as Naveen Dabas, a resident of Budh Vihar, tried to gain entry through the main gate by showing a government identification card. Security personnel grew suspicious and detained him for questioning.

During interrogation, Dabas told officials that he is working as a guest faculty member (TGT English) under the Delhi government and has been associated with the Education Department for around 12 years. He reportedly claimed that his visit was related to demands for reforms in policies concerning guest teachers. Officials have confirmed that no suspicious or objectionable material was found in his possession.

Initial police investigations have not indicated any criminal intent. However, given the sensitive nature of the location, security agencies are questioning him in detail to ascertain why he attempted to enter the Assembly without proper authorisation.

The matter took a serious turn after Dabas claimed that he had been called to the Assembly by a Delhi minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Further verification revealed that Dabas had no personal acquaintance with the minister. Investigators believe he attempted to use the minister’s name to bypass security checks. He is currently being further questioned by the police.

The incident has raised serious concerns as the Delhi Assembly is in session, with senior leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties, including the Chief Minister, present in the House. The ease with which an unauthorised person allegedly attempted entry has sparked questions about existing security protocols and access control mechanisms at the Assembly complex.
