‘Dacoit’ Release Date Changed Again: Mrunal Thakur–Adivi Sesh Film Pushed Back Amid ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Clash

The year 2026 is shaping up to be a blockbuster-heavy one, especially in the first quarter. While several big films are lined up from January onwards, March has become the most crowded month, with major releases like Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 and Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups set to dominate the box office. To avoid a direct clash with these big-ticket films, several makers have begun reshuffling their release calendars.

After Ajay Devgn postponed Dhamaal 4 and Akshay Kumar moved Bhoot Bangla, another film has now joined the list. Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh’s pan-India action thriller Dacoit has once again been pushed back, with the makers announcing a new release date.

The teaser of Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur, and Anurag Kashyap, was unveiled with much buzz in December. Initially, the film was slated to hit theatres on December 25, 2025, but production was delayed after Adivi Sesh sustained an injury during filming. As a result, the release was shifted to March 19, 2026.

However, with Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic locking the March window, the makers of Dacoit decided against risking a box office clash. According to reports, the film has now been postponed by 19 days and will release on April 10, 2026.

Trade sources suggest that the decision reflects the makers’ respect for the scale and anticipation surrounding Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic, as well as their confidence in Dacoit as a standalone release. By moving to April, the team aims to give the film a clearer theatrical window and ensure it gets the attention it deserves.

Earlier, the makers had described Dacoit as a “goldfish among sharks” amid the crowded release calendar. Industry insiders now believe the new date will work in the film’s favour, allowing audiences to experience it without the pressure of competing mega-releases.
