The 2025 dearness allowance was announced on March 28. Meanwhile, officials expect the 2026 dearness allowance to be announced by late March or early April. This dearness allowance increase will take effect on January 1, 2026. Employees and retirees will receive arrears.
How much will dearness allowance increase?
Currently, the dearness allowance is 58 percent. This is the dearness allowance as of October 2025. According to AICPI-IW data, this dearness allowance will increase by 2 to 3 percent. This means that employees' dearness allowance could reach 60 or 61 percent.
Impact on Salary (DA Hike)
If your basic salary is ₹18,000, a 2% increase in dearness allowance could bring you ₹28,800. A 3% increase could bring you ₹28,980. Those earning ₹29,200 could receive ₹47,012, including dearness allowance.
The dearness allowance was supposed to be implemented in January. However, the announcement of the dearness allowance has been delayed.
