Condensed Milk at Home: Easy No-Cook Method to Prepare It in Minutes

Condensed milk, known for enhancing the taste and texture of desserts, is a staple ingredient in many sweet dishes. From puddings and cakes to kheer, brownies, and chocolate truffles, it adds richness, sweetness, and a creamy consistency that elevates the overall flavor. It can also be used as a substitute for sugar, making desserts more indulgent and flavorful.

While most people prefer buying condensed milk from the market, it can now be easily prepared at home using a quick and convenient method. This simple recipe, shared by chef Pankaj Bhadouria, does not even require cooking on a gas stove and can be completed within minutes.

To prepare condensed milk at home, only four ingredients are required: one cup of milk powder, half a cup of powdered sugar, around 40 grams of melted butter, and half a cup of hot water. The preparation method is straightforward. All the ingredients need to be added to a blender jar—starting with milk powder, followed by powdered sugar and melted butter, and finally hot water. Blend the mixture thoroughly until it becomes smooth, creamy, and lump-free. The entire process takes approximately five minutes.

Once prepared, the condensed milk can be stored in a clean, airtight container and kept in the refrigerator for several days. It remains fresh for a reasonable period and can be used whenever required in different recipes.

Traditionally, condensed milk is made by simmering milk for 35 to 40 minutes until it thickens, followed by the addition of sugar and caramelization to enhance flavor and color. However, this modern no-cook method saves time and effort while still delivering a similar creamy texture and sweetness, making it a convenient option for home cooks.
