Chunky Panday Reveals How His Bollywood Journey Began — “My Luck Shone in the Bathroom!”

Bollywood actor Chunky Panday recently shared a hilarious yet heartwarming story about how he landed his very first film — and it all started in a bathroom! The actor revealed the quirky incident during an episode of Too Much, a talk show hosted by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, where he appeared alongside his old friend Govinda.

“My Career Started in the Bathroom!”

Recalling his early days of struggle, Chunky said, “I wanted to be an actor, but there were no actors in my family. My uncle did a few character roles, but I had to struggle for four to five years before I got my first film. And if I managed to get into the industry, it’s because of Govinda.”

Govinda quickly joked, “I left the film, so he got it!” — leaving everyone in splits.

Chunky then narrated how fate took an unexpected turn. “One day, I bumped into producer Pahlaj Nihalani in a bathroom. My career literally started there! Pahlaj had made Ilzaam with Govinda, which was a superhit. But when I met him, I didn’t recognize him. There was no social media back then, so we didn’t know who looked like what. I was struggling with a knot in my drawstring and asked him for help — and he did!”

“I Want to Be in Films”

After that funny encounter, Chunky struck up a conversation. “I asked him what he did, and he said he was a producer named Pahlaj Nihalani. I was stunned! I introduced myself as Chunky Panday, and he laughed, saying, ‘What a strange name!’ I told him I wanted to be in films. He asked me to come meet him the next day — and that’s how I got my first role.”
