Charter ambulance carrying 7 people crashes minutes after takeoff from Ranchi airport

Chartered plane crashes near Ranchi - An air ambulance traveling from Ranchi to Delhi crashed near Simaria, Jharkhand. The director of Ranchi Airport said seven people were on board the air ambulance.
Ranchi: A chartered ambulance crashed within minutes of taking off from Ranchi airport. Initially, it was reported that the air ambulance had gone missing between Palamu and Latehar, but now it has been learnt that the private chartered ambulance has crashed in Kathiatu under Simaria police station area of Chatra district. Seven people are reported to be on board this air ambulance.
The air ambulance was supposed to reach Delhi at night, but due to bad weather, the air ambulance went missing 20 minutes after taking off from Ranchi.
The plane did not contact Ranchi airport.
It is reported that a chartered ambulance flight took off from Ranchi Airport. It contacted the next station, then control was handed over to the next station. After this, contact was lost. The plane did not contact Ranchi Airport.
According to the report, the air ambulance took off from Ranchi at 7:10 pm. However, contact with the flight was lost at 7:34 pm. After losing contact with Ranchi, the flight was unable to contact Varanasi Air Control.
Relief and rescue work begins
It is reported that the plane lost contact due to bad weather. After losing radar contact, it crashed in Chatra. The air ambulance crashed in Simaria, Chatra district . After receiving information from local residents, Chatra district police arrived at the scene and began rescue and relief operations. According to reports, the patient and his family, a doctor, and a male nurse were also on board the plane.
Where was the plane going and how did the accident happen?
According to reports, on February 23, 2026, a Beechcraft C90 aircraft (VT-AJV) belonging to Redbird Airways Private Limited, operating as an air ambulance on the Ranchi-Delhi route, crashed in Kasaria Panchayat under Simaria police station in Chatra district, Jharkhand. The aircraft was carrying seven people, including two crew members. The aircraft took off from Ranchi at 19:11 IST. After establishing contact with Kolkata, the aircraft lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at 19:34 IST, approximately 100 nautical miles southeast of Varanasi.
Who were aboard the air ambulance?
Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat and Captain Savrajdeep Singh were on board the air ambulance that crashed in Chatra . Sanjay Kumar, Archana Devi, Dhruv Kumar, Dr. Vikas Kumar Gupta, and paramedic Mr. Sachin Kumar Mishra were also on board as passengers. The patient has been identified as 41-year-old Sanjay Kumar. Two attendants, Archana Devi and Dhruv Kumar, were also on board. Paramedic Sachin Kumar Mishra and Dr. Vikas Kumar Gupta were also accompanying the patient.
