A sensation erupted at the sacred Brajghat in Garhmukteshwar, Hapur, when a funeral procession being conducted by a group suddenly came under suspicion. As people looked into the flames rising from the pyre, they noticed something strange—and once the pyre was extinguished and a look inside, the truth was shocking. Instead of a human body, a mannequin was burning among the wood.

Four youths had come from Delhi

According to reports, four young men had arrived at Brajghat from Delhi and claimed to be a family performing the last rites of an acquaintance. They prepared a funeral pyre, laid out wood, placed an effigy on it, and began preparing to set it on fire. Meanwhile, people at the ghat became suspicious of the pyre's shape and movement. Some people went closer and saw a figure made of cloth and stuffing instead of a body. Locals immediately extinguished the pyre and removed the effigy. This enraged those present. Amidst the commotion, two of the four young men fled, while the remaining two were caught by the people and handed over to the police.

The family alleges that the police did not allow them to reach Brajghat with the actual body. Infuriated, the family then arrived at the ghat carrying a dummy instead of the body and performed a sham funeral rites there.

The incident caused chaos in the Ghat area. Police attempted to control the situation, but when the protests escalated, they detained two people. Officials say the entire matter is under investigation.

According to police sources, the arrested youths are being interrogated. None of them are providing clear answers, making the matter even more suspicious. According to officials, this incident may be linked to a larger conspiracy. Police are now searching for two absconding youths who secretly left the ghat immediately after the incident. Such an incident at a sacred site like Brajghat has shocked both locals and the administration.
