Border 2 Box Office Storm Overshadows Dhurandhar, 50-Day Theatrical Run Loses Momentum

Bollywood star Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated film Border 2 has made a thunderous entry into cinemas, delivering an impressive opening at the box office. The film has not only dominated the domestic market but has also shown strong performance overseas, signaling a global impact right from day one.

With massive buzz around its advance bookings, Border 2 translated audience excitement into solid numbers upon release. Despite being mounted on a big-budget scale, the film has opened on a promising note and will now rely on sustained momentum and word-of-mouth to secure long-term success.

The public response has been largely positive. Notably, Varun Dhawan, who initially faced skepticism and online trolling for his role, is now earning praise for his performance, adding to the film’s strong reception.

Border 2 Opening Day Earnings

On its first day, Border 2 recorded a gross collection of ₹36 crore in India, while earning an additional ₹5 crore from overseas markets. This took the film’s worldwide opening-day total to ₹41 crore, an impressive figure by any standard.

Industry estimates suggest that if the film maintains its pace, it could reach close to ₹150 crore by January 26. With a reported budget of around ₹200 crore, the coming days will be crucial in determining its overall box office trajectory.

Surpasses Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar

Border 2 has also overtaken Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar in terms of opening-day collections. Released in 2025, Dhurandhar had earned ₹28 crore in India and ₹40 crore worldwide on its first day. Sunny Deol’s film has edged past that mark with its ₹41 crore global opening, effectively ending Dhurandhar’s dominance at the box office.

With strong audience support and patriotic appeal, Border 2 appears well-positioned for a successful theatrical run.
