Big relief before Holi: Crop insurance money will reach farmers' accounts

The Chief Minister released crores of rupees in relief funds, which will be transferred directly to accounts through DBT.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, providing major relief to farmers, distributed compensation of ₹285 crore to 2.51 lakh farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Kharif-2025). Additionally, financial assistance of ₹175 crore was provided to 3,500 beneficiary families under the Chief Minister's Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme . This total amount of ₹460 crore is being transferred directly to the accounts of farmers and dependent families through DBT .
The Chief Minister stated that this relief will prove to be a source of support for farmers before Holi. He directed all district magistrates to ensure that the funds reach beneficiaries' accounts by the next day. The Chief Minister assured that the double-engine government stands firmly with farmers and that their food providers will continue to play a vital role in the state's prosperity.
The amount is directly transferred to the beneficiaries' accounts, eliminating the role of middlemen.
CM Yogi informed that the Uttar Pradesh government's budget for the year 2026-27 was recently passed, in which provisions have been made for many schemes for youth, women, farmers and the poor. He said that now money reaches the accounts of beneficiaries directly at the press of a button and the role of middlemen has ended. "Today, Rs 460 crore is being sent directly to the accounts of farmers," he said. He added that under the crop insurance scheme, compensation is being given to farmers affected by drought, excessive rainfall or other natural disasters. The Chief Minister said that crop insurance provides financial security to farmers in times of disaster.
Sharecroppers and co-farmers also benefit from the scheme
Regarding the Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme, he said that while its scope was previously limited, it now covers the farmer's family members, sharecroppers, and co-farmers. The government provides a financial assistance of five lakh rupees in case of accidental death. Previously, on June 16, 2025, 561.86 crore rupees were distributed to 11,690 farmers and their dependents.
Foundation stone laid for soil testing laboratories
During the program, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for Deputy Director of Agriculture offices and soil testing laboratories in Baghpat, Shamli, Kasganj, and Bhadohi. The foundation stone was also laid for a 50-bed dormitory building at the State Land Conservation Center in Mauranipur, Jhansi, and for a Smart Agriculture Bureau studio unit in Lucknow. He stated that the government is committed to advancing agriculture through modern technology and scientific methods.
Decision to provide medical insurance cover to Aapda Mitras
The Chief Minister also mentioned the " Aapda Mitra " program to strengthen disaster management . He reported that 29,772 young volunteers have been trained in 25 districts. These volunteers have been provided with emergency responder kits, ID cards, and certificates. The state government has decided to provide three years of life and medical insurance coverage for trained Aapda Mitra. An agreement has been signed with the National Insurance Company Limited, under which each Aapda Mitra will receive insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh for three years.
The affected people should get relief amount within 24 hours.
CM Yogi said that the government's effort is to ensure that relief funds reach the accounts of those affected within 24 hours in the event of a flood, lightning, or other disaster. Rs 876 crore has been allocated to the State Disaster Relief Fund for the year 2025-26. Hundreds of crores of rupees in aid have already been distributed to thousands of people affected by crop damage, loss of life, and house damage.
Priority given to disaster friends in recruitment of 45,000 home guards
He also announced that disaster friends will be given priority in the recruitment of 45,000 home guards in the state. Currently, disaster friends provide voluntary service, but upon becoming home guards, they will receive an honorarium. Additionally, Doppler weather radars will be installed in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh , further strengthening weather forecasting and disaster management. Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, along with several public representatives and officials, were present at the event.
