Keeping yourself fit is a good thing but if this desire turns into an obsession then it can be harmful for the body. Something similar happened with Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar. Her body had to suffer the consequences of her obsession to stay fit.

But during his fitness journey, she made some mistakes, due to which her body had to suffer. She herself revealed this during an interview with Hindustan Times. She said that from her fitness journey she learned not to be too strict with her body and avoid over-training. (Photo: Instagram)

Bhumi said, 'When I started my workout journey, I thought the only way to stay fit was to work hard. And you burn hundreds of calories in the gym. I used to feel proud of myself. But in reality, what was happening was that I was harming my body. I was not giving my body a chance to recover.' (Photo: Instagram)

After this, the actress changed her thinking and adopted a more balanced way to keep her body fit. She told that now she has reduced rigorous training. The special thing is that now she feels fit than before. Bhumi further added, 'Due to this I had many diseases. I still do not want to talk about them. I gave importance to not doing much workout; this was the biggest thing that I changed. Today I do only 20% of the workout that I used to do 4 years ago, and I feel that I am the fittest now.' Now her routine includes both Pilates and strength training. Bhumi is not the only one who has faced problems due to excessive workouts. Earlier this month, author and health expert Vasudha Rai revealed that she had developed cortisol belly and skin inflammation due to pushing herself too hard in the gym. (Photo: Instagram)

In her post, she told how her stomach swelled due to lifting heavy weights in the gym 5 days a week. This took away her glow and calmness and also caused stomach problems. Since then, she has opted for light exercises for herself. Bhumi also reacted to her post and wrote, 'I have also gone through the same phase!' (Photo : Instagram)

According to UCLA, overexercising is a condition in which the body is put under too much stress without giving it enough time to recover. This causes hormonal imbalance in the body which affects metabolism and muscles. It also makes the immune system vulnerable to diseases and infections. (Photo: Instagram)
