Bhagalpur Shocker: 2.5-Year-Old Child Found Dead in River, Family Alleges Revenge Killing; Police Launch Investigation

A shocking incident has sent shockwaves through Bhagalpur, Bihar, where the body of a two-and-a-half-year-old child was found in a river under suspicious circumstances. The incident took place in the Laluchak area under Nathnagar police station limits, where police have begun an investigation into what is suspected to be a revenge-driven crime.

According to the child's family, unknown people allegedly abducted the sleeping child late Tuesday night and killed him before dumping the body into the river. Police are examining all possible angles, including a suspected personal dispute involving the child's family.

Child Went Missing During Family Celebration

The victim, identified as Aditya Kumar, was the middle child of Panchu Mandal. The family had been celebrating the arrival of their third child with a traditional Chhathi ceremony. Due to limited space at home and the presence of guests, Panchu took Aditya to sleep at the nearby Mahavir Temple complex.

According to the family, during the early hours of Wednesday, while Panchu was asleep, the child allegedly disappeared. When the father woke up around 4 am and could not find his son, the family started searching for him and later approached the police with a missing complaint.

Body Recovered From River, Investigation Underway

Around 5 am, the child's uncle reportedly found a body floating near Shrirampur Ghat. With the help of local residents, the body was recovered and identified as Aditya.

The family alleged that the child was subjected to extreme violence before being killed. Police and forensic teams reached the spot and collected evidence as part of the investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide more details about the cause and circumstances of death.

Family Points to Old Dispute

The child's father has accused a relative-neighbour family, commonly referred to as the Gotiya family, alleging that an old dispute may have led to the crime. He claimed that his family had previously received threats during the Chhathi ceremony.

However, police have not confirmed the involvement of any specific person and are investigating all possible leads before reaching a conclusion.

Police Begin Scientific Investigation

Following the incident, teams from Nathnagar police, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and a dog squad inspected the crime scene. City DSP-2 Rakesh Kumar said that the missing case has been converted into a murder investigation.

Police officials stated that evidence collected during the forensic examination, along with the post-mortem report, will help identify those responsible. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in the crime.
