Bael Murabba Recipe: A Cooling and Nutritious Summer Delight You Can Make at Home

Bael, also known as wood apple, is considered a superfood during the summer season. Known for its natural cooling properties, it helps regulate body temperature and supports digestion. Rich in essential nutrients, vitamins, and plant compounds, bael is also beneficial for gut health and liver function. One of the best ways to enjoy its benefits throughout summer is by preparing bael murabba, which can be stored for a long time.

Health Benefits of Bael
Bael is packed with phytochemicals such as flavonoids and phenolic compounds, along with essential minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron. It is known for its digestive benefits and is often considered helpful in managing stomach-related issues.

Ingredients Required
To prepare bael murabba at home, you will need:

  • 1 kg ripe bael fruit
  • 1 kg sugar candy (or sugar as per taste)
  • 1 litre water
  • ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder

Step-by-Step Preparation
Start by washing the bael fruit thoroughly and drying it. Since the outer shell is very hard, crack it open carefully using a rolling pin or any heavy object. Remove the pulp and cut it into small pieces or slices as desired.

Next, boil water in a pan and place the bael pieces in a steamer basket. Cover and steam them for about 8–10 minutes until they become soft. Once done, remove and set them aside.

In another pan, prepare sugar syrup by adding sugar candy and water in a 1:1 ratio. Let it boil until it thickens, which may take around 30 minutes. Add cardamom powder to enhance the flavor.

Now, add the steamed bael pieces to the syrup and cook for another 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow it to cool.

Storage Tips
Once cooled, store the murabba in an airtight glass container. It can be consumed throughout the summer as a healthy and refreshing treat.
