You may have noticed that many times you go to an ATM to withdraw money, but the money is deducted from your account and the ATM doesn't dispense it. In such a situation, the common man is perplexed as to what to do next. The question arises: where did the money go and how can it be recovered? Let us tell you that according to Reserve Bank of India rules, the bank has to credit the deducted amount back to the customer's account within 7 working days from the date of the failed transaction. So let's find out what to do about it.
Wait 24 hours
Sometimes, due to a technical glitch or network problem, the money gets stuck in the machine. In such a case, you just need to wait 24 hours. The bank will automatically refund or credit your entire amount within 24 hours.
Keep the transaction slip
If money is deducted even after the transaction fails and the money does not reach you, then first of all you have to keep the transaction failure slip, which comes out from the ATM, safely.
How to complain?
Call your bank's customer care number immediately. Provide the transaction time, date, ATM location, transaction ID, and amount. Be sure to note your complaint number. If you can't get through the call, visit your home branch, fill out a form, and submit a written complaint.
