The government has always supported women in accessing financial assistance. There's some good news for women in West Bengal. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government has launched a vital scheme, following its election campaign promise. This scheme is called the "Annapurna Bhandar Yojana." ₹3,000 will be deposited into the bank accounts of women eligible for this scheme.
Chief Minister's announcement:
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the scheme on Wednesday. The scheme aims to help women cope with rising inflation, empower them financially, and meet their essential health needs.
Lakshmi Bhandaar Scheme:
Until now, the Trinamool Congress government's "Lakshmi Bhandaar Scheme" was in operation in the state. Under that scheme, women received a maximum monthly assistance of ₹1,500. Now, this amount has been doubled under the Annapurna Bhandaar Scheme. Approximately 20 million women are expected to benefit from it.
Which women are eligible for Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana and what are the conditions?
1. The applicant must be a woman.
2. Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
3. Age should be between 25 to 60 years.
4. Should not be an income tax payer.
5. Should not be a permanent or retired government employee.
6. Should not be receiving pension or salary from Central or State Government, Panchayat, Municipality or Government aided Institution.
7. Should not hold any government post.
How to apply?
Eligible women can apply for this scheme both online and offline. The government has provided an official portal for this purpose. You can apply on the official website, socialsecurity.wb.gov.in. There, you will need to download the application form. Or, click on the online application section.
Open an account with your details and Aadhaar linked. Upload the required documents and submit the application. You will receive a reference number. Interested women can apply at the nearest block office, panchayat office, or municipal office.
