In Balangir, Odisha, an 8-year-old boy lost his sight after a package of chips burst, causing him to lose his sight. The family has filed an FIR against the company.
Balangir: A tragic and shocking incident occurred on Monday in Shagadghat village, under the Titlagarh police station area of Balangir district, Odisha. An 8-year-old boy's eye was completely destroyed when a packet of chips exploded. The incident has left the area in an atmosphere of fear and anger.
What is the whole matter?
According to reports, Lab Harpal, a resident of Shagdarghat village, had bought a packet of chips from a shop in the village. The child returned home from tuition in the evening and was preparing to eat the chips. At the same time, his mother, Bhanumati Harpal, was cooking in the kitchen. She lit the gas stove and went out for a while to fetch water.
Meanwhile, the child took a packet of chips and went near the gas stove. Suddenly, the packet slipped from his hand and exploded upon contact with the gas flame. The sound echoed throughout the house.
The Chipt packet exploded directly on the child's face, severely injuring his eye. The force of the bursting was so intense that the child's eyeball popped out, completely destroying the eye. When the mother returned to the kitchen after hearing the child's screams, she found her son's face covered in blood and one eye severely damaged.
The child will never be able to see
Immediately after the incident, the family rushed the child to the hospital for treatment. After examining the child, doctors determined that the eye had been severely injured and would never be able to see again. Hearing this, the family was devastated.
The child's mother, Bhanumati Harpal, wept, saying her son was devastated. She explained that she had given him money to buy biscuits, but he bought a packet of chips. According to the mother, if her son had been born blind, the pain might have been less, but after so many years of nurturing him, the sudden loss of his sight is unbearable.
He questioned what is in the packets of chips sold in the market that explodes like a bomb when exposed to fire. If foods made for children are so dangerous, why isn't their sale strictly monitored?
The child's parents, outraged by the incident, have filed a complaint against the chip manufacturing company at the Titlagarh police station. The family has demanded strict action and justice in the case. The police have registered an FIR and begun investigating the matter.
This incident has raised serious questions about the safety and quality of packaged food. Locals are demanding that the administration take this matter seriously and take concrete steps to prevent such incidents from recurring, so that no other innocent lives are ruined in this manner.
