Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has been away from films in recent years to focus on family, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of her personality rights. The actress alleged that her name and AI-generated morphed images were being misused for commercial gain and even circulated on pornographic platforms.
AI-Generated Content Misused for Profit
In her petition, Aishwarya stated that fake intimate photos had been created using artificial intelligence and were being sold on merchandise such as mugs and posters. She emphasized that these images were completely fabricated and tampered screenshots, with no connection to her real life.
Senior advocate Sandip Sethi, representing Aishwarya, argued that the actress’s image, likeness, and identity were being commercially exploited without consent. He told the court, “Completely unreal intimate pictures of her are being circulated online. People are simply collecting money by using her name and face.”
‘Name and Image Used for Sexual Content’
The petition further alleged that her morphed photos were being used on pornographic platforms to generate revenue. “Her identity is being misused to satisfy someone’s sexual fantasies, which is extremely unfortunate,” the counsel added.
Aishwarya was also represented by advocates Praveen Anand and Dhruv Anand.
Court’s Response
Justice Tejas Karia of the Delhi High Court indicated that an interim order would be passed to restrain the defendants from misusing Aishwarya Rai’s image and identity. The case is scheduled for further proceedings before the Joint Registrar on November 7, 2025, and before the court on January 15, 2026.
