Free Aadhaar Card Update: Aadhaar card has become the most essential government document for every citizen of the country today. Keeping this in mind, the Unique Identification Authority of India has provided significant relief to citizens. The government has extended the deadline for free document updates to Aadhaar card by one year.
This feature was originally set to expire on June 15, 2026, but now the public can easily update their Aadhaar without paying any fees. The government's goal is to allow those whose Aadhaar has expired to re-verify their identity and address.

Till when can we get the update done for free?
- According to the new decision of the Election Commission and the Government, now you can update your Aadhar card absolutely free of cost till 14 June 2027.
- UIDAI has extended this deadline by a full year in view of the positive feedback received from the general public.
- Those citizens who have not updated their Aadhaar even once in the last 10 years should get it done immediately.
Easy way to update online from home
- First of all you have to visit the official website of UIDAI (https://uidai.gov.in/en).
- After logging in, go to the 'Document Update' option and upload your identity proof (like Voter ID/PAN) and address proof and submit it.
Online or offline, where will it cost how much money?
- If you upload the documents online yourself through the 'Aadhaar' portal, then no fee will have to be paid.
- By updating online in time, you can avoid the hassle of standing in queues and spending extra money.
- If you go to a nearby Aadhaar service centre or bank and get the work done offline, you will have to pay a fee of ₹75.

The government has released a new 'Aadhaar App'.
- The government has announced that the old 'mAadhaar' mobile app is going to be completely shut down soon.
- Consumers are now advised to download the all-new and updated 'Aadhaar App' from Google Play Store or Apple Store.
- The new app features secure QR code sharing, robust privacy controls, and seamless digital services.
