Vrindavan: No matter the physical condition, if the mind is connected to devotion, a person becomes a ray of hope even in times of crisis. Saint Premanand Maharaj of Vrindavan is a living example of this. Despite suffering from a serious kidney disease and being forced to undergo dialysis daily, he has given his devotees a wonderful message of smile and determination. While ordinary people lose heart over a minor illness, Premanand Maharaj's cheerfulness and devotion to the name Radha have given devotees a new source of spiritual energy.

Struggling with his health, yet unwavering in his devotion,
Saint Premanand Maharaj has been suffering from a genetic condition called Polycystic Kidney Disease for the past two decades. This disease has gradually rendered both his kidneys inactive. While he previously received dialysis five days a week, he now requires daily dialysis. This has temporarily halted his daily 2-kilometer walk from Shri Krishna Sharanam Society to Kali Kunj Ashram in Raman Reti at 2 a.m. – a walk that thousands of devotees used to participate in daily for darshan.

Maharaj is now receiving treatment at his residence in the Sri Krishna Sharanam Society. A nearby flat has been specially adapted for dialysis, where a six-member medical team—including a cardiologist from Australia—is attending to him.

"We are very well" – an emotional but inspiring message
Although the physical pain is evident, Premananda Maharaj's face still smiles. According to media reports, he sent a message to devotees, saying: "There is pain and anxiety, but there is a lot of grace. We are very well. All of you remain happy and chant the name of God. We will meet soon." This message not only reassures devotees but also teaches them to never stop remembering God even in the difficulties of life.

Teaching "Naam Japa," inspiring us to rise above worry,
Maharaj repeatedly reiterated the message: "Don't worry, focus only on devotion." He never focused on the dire circumstances of his life, instead prioritizing Radharani's grace at every moment. This selfless devotion makes him the spiritual pillar of millions of hearts.

Devotees' devotion:
Such is the devotion of people towards Maharaj, who is ready to give life, that people from all over the country are ready to donate their kidneys in his service.
Raj Kundra, husband of film actress Shilpa Shetty, recently visited Vrindavan and expressed his desire to donate his kidney to him.
Prominent names like Arif Khan Chishti and Dinesh Falahari Baba of Itarsi have also offered to donate their organs.
However, Maharaj has politely declined all these offers. He said that he will invite these donors to Vrindavan and honour them, but will not accept organ donations.

Who is Premanand Maharaj?
Born in Akari village in Kanpur district, Saint Premanand Maharaj's original name was Aniruddha Kumar Pandey. At the age of 13, he left home and embarked on a spiritual journey.
He practiced rigorous spiritual practice for approximately one and a half years under the guidance of Gauri Sharan Ji Maharaj in Varanasi.
Later, in Vrindavan, he became completely absorbed in chanting the name Radha.
He even named his two inactive kidneys "Krishna" and "Radha"—a testament to his devotion to every part of his body.
