According to one estimate, the 20-month delay in implementation could result in significant arrears for Level 7 employees. Assuming a fitment factor of 2.57 for employees with a basic pay of 44,900 as per the Seventh Pay Commission, the estimated basic pay in the Eighth Pay Commission could be 115,393. Based on this calculation, the monthly difference is approximately 70,493. If we calculate this difference for 20 months, it would be 70,493 × 20 = 14,09,860, or approximately 14.10 lakh rupees in arrears.

How much arrears can be given to second level employees?

Based on this estimated calculation, over a 20-month period, Level 6 employees could receive approximately 11.11 lakh rupees in arrears, Level 5 employees 9.13 lakh rupees in arrears, and Level 4 employees 8 lakh rupees in arrears. However, these figures are only approximate calculations.

The actual amount of arrears employees will receive will only be clear after the final fitment factor, new pay structure, allowances, and the government's final decision are finalized. The longer the implementation is delayed, the greater the potential for arrears to increase.
