Millions of central government employees are currently awaiting the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, but before that, they may benefit from an increase in dearness allowance. According to the latest data, DA is expected to increase by up to 3 percent from July 2026.

Why DA may increase:
According to the latest data from the Central Bureau of Investigation, the inflation index for industrial workers has increased from 149.1 in March 2026 to 149.9 in April 2026. Based on this, it is estimated that the current DA of 60 per cent may increase to 63 per cent, although the final decision will be taken after considering the data for May and June 2026 and the approval of the Union Cabinet.
