A big step has been completed for the Virat Ramayana temple under construction in East Champaran (Chakia) of Bihar. This huge Shivalinga, which is one of the largest Shivalingas in the world, has now left for Bihar from Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu. This Shivling was being prepared for the last 10 years.
33 feet high and 210 ton Shivlinga
The size and weight of Shivlinga is shocking—
- Height: 33 feet
- Width: 33 feet
- Weight: 210 metric tons
- Construction Cost: Around 3 Crore Rupees
- Material: A huge granite stone
This Maha Shivling is being sent to Ladkar Bihar on a special transporter truck with 96 wheels. Transporting such heavy religious structures by road is a major engineering task in itself.
Departed after worship
Before sending the Shivlinga, traditional Vedic rituals were performed in Pattikadu village of Mahabalipuram. The local people bid farewell to the Shivling being a part of this historic moment.
A long journey of 20-25 days — many cities will be visited
The journey of Shivling to Bihar will be about 20-25 days. The itinerary is as follows:
Mahabalipuram → Hosur → Hosakot → Devanahalli → Kurnool → Hyderabad → Nizamabad → Adilabad → Nagpur → Sewni → Jabalpur → Maihar → Satna → Rewa → Mirzapur → Ara → Chapra → Masrakh → Mohammadpur → Kesaria → Chakia (Motihari)
In many cities along the way, people will be able to see this huge Shivlinga.
Virat Ramayana Temple - India's new pride
The Virat Ramayana temple under construction at Chakia is special for its magnificence:
- Temple area: 115 acres
- Length: 1080 feet
- Width: 540 feet
- Height of main peak: 270 feet
- Total peaks: 18
- Total temples: 22
Important construction works like piling of temple entrance, Singh Dwar, Ganesh Sthal, Nandi and Sanctum have been completed. The temple construction work is being done by the Mahavir Mandir Trust.
Targeted to be installed in 2026
According to the founder of the construction company, Vinayak Venkataraman, this grand Shivalinga will be installed in the temple premises by February 2026. This installation will make the temple even more magnificent architecturally and religiously.
