A tragic incident has come to light in Balrampur district, where some miscreants kidnapped a mute and deaf girl and raped her. The police acted swiftly and arrested both the accused in an encounter within 24 hours, who are admitted in the hospital in an injured condition.

A sensational incident has come to light in the Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh. On one hand, this incident shook the entire district. On the other hand, this incident which took place a little ahead of the DM SP residence, raised questions on all the administrative systems. Here, some miscreants kidnapped a mute and deaf girl returning from her mother's house and raped her one by one. The police arrested both the accused during an encounter within just 24 hours of the incident. The victim was also seen running in the CCTV footage.

Both the accused are being treated in the Joint District Hospital. To understand the situation of the incident, the Superintendent of Police and other senior officials have reached the spot and have recorded the statements of the accused. On Tuesday afternoon itself, the victim's brother had filed a complaint accusing unknown persons of rape and said that some miscreants had committed this incident with his sister on Monday evening.

The incident took place at a distance of just 20 meters from the Bahadurapur police station under the Kotwali Dehat police station of Balrampur district. The residences and offices of the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, District Judge and other top officials are located at a short distance from here. According to the family members, when the girl was returning to her home from her maternal uncle's house, which is at a short distance, the youth forcibly kidnapped her on the way and took her to a deserted field and raped her. Since the girl could not speak, she could not even shout for help and the accused fled after committing the crime.

The family said that when the victim did not return home even after an hour, we started looking for her. During the search, she was found in a suspicious condition in a field near Bahadura Pur police station. She was immediately taken to the District Women's Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. According to the family, the victim is physically stable, but is in shock. The family said that after this incident, questions are also being raised on the functioning of the police. Three to four CCTV cameras of Bahadura Pur police station were found to be switched off, while a 14-second video has been captured in a camera near the SP residence, in which the girl is seen running away. The family alleges that this incident happened due to the negligence of the police in such a sensitive area.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar said in a statement issued to the media late at night that on the night of 11 August 2025, a complaint was received by a person at the Kotwali Dehat police station, in which he said that his mentally challenged and deaf and dumb sister had been molested. The police immediately registered a case in this regard. He said that considering the seriousness of the case, the police started investigation on the basis of evidence and CCTV footage.

During the investigation, two accused were identified, whose names are Ankur Verma son of Chandradev and Harshit Pandey son of Prayag Dutt. Superintendent of Police said that tonight, both these accused have been arrested during a police encounter. Both the accused have been injured in the encounter, who have been sent to the hospital for treatment. Police is taking further legal action in this case.

Similarly, after this incident, many question marks are being raised. People are talking in hushed voices that when criminals can commit a crime of molestation of a deaf and mentally challenged girl just a few feet away from the residence of the district's top officials, then what will be the condition of the Terai areas of the district? On the other hand, people have also raised questions on 'Operation Trinetra' being run by Uttar Pradesh Police! People say that when the condition of Operation Trinetra within 1 kilometer of the DM SP's residence is such that the CCTV cameras are not working and are not working during any major incident, then what will be the condition of other places?
