If you are an adult and want to drive a vehicle, you will need a valid driver's license.

The minimum age to obtain a license in India is 18 years. Any person above 18 years of age, male or female, can apply for a driving license.

To obtain a driving license, the first step is to visit your nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO). There you have to fill out a form and submit it.

Later, once you have paid the required fees, you are issued a learner license. Its validity is for 6 months. However, you can apply for a permanent driving license anytime after one month.

Often people have to move from one state to another due to work or other reasons. In such a situation, people get driving licenses from a new state also.

Earlier this was a common thing. But now the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made a strict law regarding this. Under rules established in 2019, individuals are not allowed to hold two licenses.

However, if you are found to have two driving licenses, you may face penalties. Involvement in fraudulent activities may also result in imprisonment.
