If you are an adult and want to drive a vehicle, you will need a valid driver's license.

The minimum age to obtain a license in India is 18 years. Anyone over the age of 18, regardless of gender, can apply for a driving license.

To get a driving license, you first have to go to your nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO). There you will have to fill out the required form and submit it.

After paying the required fees you will be issued a learner license. Its validity period is six months. However, you can apply for a permanent driving license anytime after one month.

Often people have to move from one state to another due to work or other reasons. In such a situation, people often choose the option of getting a driving license from a new state.

In the past, it was common for people to have multiple licenses. But now the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made a strict law regarding this. Under the rules applicable in 2019, you are not allowed to hold two licenses simultaneously.

However, if you are found to have two driving licenses, you may face penalties. Involvement in fraudulent activities may also result in imprisonment.
