It will be more convenient for people to scan the QR code to make payments. However, WhatsApp has not officially confirmed this.

Wabetainfo has shared a post on social media. It shows an icon to scan the QR code directly in the chat. If this feature is introduced, you will be able to make UPI payments by scanning the QR code directly in the chat without visiting different locations or following multiple steps.

WhatsApp's new UPI feature may increase the number of users on the Meta app. WhatsApp is among the largest messaging platforms in the country. If people start using WhatsApp's UPI payment service in large numbers, it could pose a challenge to platforms like Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay.
