WhatsApp is reportedly bringing back the View Once photo and video feature for desktop apps. According to the latest report by WABetaInfo, the company has been testing to bring back this feature for the last few weeks. For those who are unaware, Meta has removed this feature from WhatsApp Web and Desktop for added privacy.

According to the report, a button to set an image as view once a message is available inside the caption bar in the drawing editor on WhatsApp for Windows. The report states that this feature is not limited to WhatsApp for Windows only, but is also available for users to use on macOS and linked devices.

“Recently, the ability to view photos and videos at once has also been released on WhatsApp Web, expanding the availability of the feature across different platforms,” the report said.

The ability to send one-time messages from desktop apps will let users send photos and videos that can only be viewed once, preventing them from being saved to the device's memory and providing a better level of privacy.

The report mentions that the feature is available to some users who install the latest updates for WhatsApp for Windows, WhatsApp for macOS, and WhatsApp Web and that it is rolling out to more users in the coming weeks.
