WhatsApp has recently added a new feature for its privacy and security. The company announced the Chat Lock feature. This new feature allows users to keep selected personal chats and group chats in a separate folder called Locked Chats that can only be accessed through the phone's password or biometrics including fingerprint sensor data and Face ID. It also hides the content of the chat when you receive a message.

Normally, when you receive a new message on WhatsApp, the app shows a preview of the received message, which includes the sender's name and a small part of the message. While this preview is incredibly useful because it helps you determine whether you want to see the message right away or at a later time, it can also give people right next to you a glimpse of the conversation you don't want them to know. This is where the chat lock feature of WhatsApp comes in handy. When a new message is received in Lock Chat, it hides all notifications including the sender's name.

WhatsApp has started rolling out the Chat Lock feature for its Android and iOS users. As the feature starts becoming available to more and more people, here is the step-by-step process on how you can use the chat lock feature of WhatsApp.
