There is hardly any messaging application that can match the popularity of WhatsApp. The Meta-owned platform has seen a number of new features over the years. Channels have been introduced, which enable users to stay updated about their favourite topics. Meta has brought some changes in security features and privacy settings not only for personal chats but also for WhatsApp groups. One of those important features is blocking group admins.

Admins are seen as the leaders of the WhatsApp group as they only have the authority to add or remove any participants. But if normal members want to block an administrator without leaving the group, now they can do so easily.

However, the method is different for anonymous people and people added to the phone's contacts.

If an Android or iOS user wants to block a WhatsApp group admin whose number is not available in the phone book, these are the steps to follow:

-Go to that particular WhatsApp group chat.

- Tap or click on the group name.

- Go to the members list and find the name of the admin you want to block.

- Click on Message (phone number) from the pop-up window.

- Personal chatbox with the admin will appear on the screen.

– Click on the number displayed at the top of the chat screen.

- Scroll up and you will get the option to block.

The method of blocking an administrator is not the same if the person is present in the phone's contacts. In such a situation, due to the difference in the interface of the WhatsApp application, Android and iOS users will have to follow different methods.
